Responsible to:
Area Team (AT) Liaison Coordinator and/or Area Team Support Coordinator
Time Required:
- 5-10 hours per month
Qualifications:
- Registered AFS Volunteer
- Annual AFS Liaison Training
- 21 years of age or older
Training:
- Liaisons will be provided with training, materials, and on-going support from a designated AT volunteer and/or AFS staff member.
- Peer-to-peer training and/or mentoring is available.
Competencies Required:
- Good organizational skills
- Able to set and honor commitments
- Well-developed communication skills
- Able to follow-up in a timely manner when information is needed/missing
- Basic computer skills, email, and internet access
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and document monthly student and host family contact and quarterly contact with schools
- Provide support and information to the student, host family, and school.
- Assist in problem solving if and when the need arises.
- Identify potential problems early when they can be solved more easily before they become deeper misunderstandings which are more difficult to resolve.
