How to make a wiki page "private," i.e., not readable by anonymous readers, in accord with the AFSWiki Access Policy.

For a new page

  1. Create the page with "Private:" as a prefix to the page name with no spaces either side of the : . Do this by entering the new page title in the search box on the left. For example if you wanted to create the private page called Refund Policy you would type Private:Refund Policy in the search box
  2. See below for how this change will be recognized and monitored

For an existing, currently non-private page

  1. Go to the page that you wish to be made private
  2. Copy the page to a new, Private page using the "move" tab at the top of the page
  3. The first line of the move page will indicate the current page name
  4. On the second line that reads "To new title:" - insert Private: before the existing page name without extra spaces.
You could also rename the old page to a new Private name by again typing it in the new title field (example Private:New Title Page)
  5. Note in the Reason: field why the page should be Private

Monitoring of new or changed pages

  1. The system administration team monitors all new changed pages on a regular basis
  2. If they detect that anyone has made a page private but the contents do not seem to justify this designation, they will contact the individual who made that designation.
  3. The Communications Exchange Advisory Group will moderate any disagreements in designation as private.
