AFSWiki Deactivate User Account

Using Special:Userlist

To deactivate / disable a user account:

• Go to the Userlist and use the search box at the top to find the user account. (Substring matching is available)
• Click the link Edit User to get to the edit screen
• Type Deactivated in the Real Name box
• Click the button next to "Disable user account?"
• Click OK - this clears the email address and password.

If the account needs to be reactivated sometime in the future:

• use the same procedure to re-enter the Real Name and email address
• add a random password that you send to the user with instructions how to change it to their preference

• Replace the contents of the user page with Deactivated.

The first use of Deactivated in the Real Name field make it easy to find in the Userlist.

The second use of Deactivated in the User: page allows a search for these accounts from the search box in the navigation panel on the left.

Note: Accounts can not be deleted from the system.
