Dear AFS Family,

The National Council Nominations and Governance Committee would like to formally announce the beginning of the nomination process for the National Council elections, which will be held at the National Volunteer Assembly in St. Louis. Nominations will be accepted through January 15, 2011. The nomination form can be found here Nominations Form

We would like to encourage you to nominate volunteers that you believe can make a significant contribution to the organization at the national level. Ideal candidates would include volunteers that have experience at the local level, as well as with national projects, in the various organizational functions: sending, hosting, support, volunteer development, field finance and compliance. We also encourage volunteers to self-nominate. Please go to the afswiki page National Council Candidates for further description of the roles and responsibilities of National Council members.

We’d also make special note that the National Council is interested in having volunteers with significant interest, knowledge and experience in AFS sending programs. This last year has seen a lot of changes in Sending, and the National Council would like to ensure that Sending receives focused attention in the years to come.

Please help us get the word out. We have created a Facebook link to the nomination form. Simply copy and paste the follow link into your Web Browser: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RLXZ6HN.

Note that there is a similar process happening for the election of field volunteers to the Board of Directors of AFS-USA. See the afswiki page AFS-USA Board of Directors Candidates for more information.

Thank you for all you do to support AFS.

Kind regards,

José Ruiz-Salas
