We set out to name a list of specific people to propose to the National Council a body who would recommend or make decisions on Wiki policies. We decided both Staff and Volunteers will be on the advisory group. The Group Recommends a Wiki workgroup of 2 staff plus 4-5 volunteers. A few staff should be on the group, and the total size should be about 5-10 people. Recommended Members:
- Mary Porterfield–KS or another National Council member
- Raymond Myers–TN - (recommended as Chair)
- Jeff Dooley-CA
- Al Russell-PA
- Jane Ginter-AK (pending her agreement)
- Jonathan Shakes- Staff
- Jim Laden-Staff
We started a list of recommended policy areas for the Wiki.
- How open the wiki should be: what should be accessible to the public (If you search for “whitelist” you can see what is public now)
- What pages/materials should be locked.
- Ownership and copyright – who owns the content of the wiki?
- Need for some standards… for example how the titles of pages about “high schools” are represented so there aren’t duplicate pages, etc. Style guide.
- Need to consider which documents should be converted to Wiki articles, which should continue as “pdfs”.
- Process for deciding what kind of budget and resources are needed to put into developing the wiki and the wiki team itself.
Actions:
- Raymond will get group email addressed from Jonathan. (done)
- Kerry will contact Jane to ask if she would like to join this group and will let the group know her response.
- If Jane cannot join, Kerry will send other recommended names to Raymond to discuss with the group.
- Mary will present these recommendations to the National Council next Tuesday during its monthly call and report back.
